I have a 12 week old lab. I’ve had him for a week now. Was able to teach him to walk on a leash. Buy a clicker, click it, and give him a treat every time you do until they see that every time you click they get a treat. Then teach them to “sit” or something simple. AS SOON AS their butt hits the floor, click and treat & praise. Just be patient. Next, clicker to teach to walk. When they are close to you, not pulling, click and treat. PS, my puppy needed aloe gel on pads of feet. Get sore fast.

YouTube should ban this worthless woman from posting these laughable videos.

Positive reinforcement works with lame & meek dogs. IT DOES NOT, I repeat, DOES NOT WORK WITH MOST DOGS.

MOST dogs need a foot up their asses, it’s just that simple.

Put a pinch collar on her, make it as tight as possible, place it right around the crown of her neck, right before the skull, & yank the living shit out of it until she stops pulling.

Some trainer that are all hyped up on the positive reinforcement will say this is mean! But do you give a kid ice cream when they stop jumping on the sofa? Jus sayin dogs are a lot like kids, and their a time say no and a time to reward. I hope this helps it did wonders w my pom, my bf’s doberman, and a bunch of other dogs i’ve worked w. ANd it working on my 11 week old pom.

But depending on the size and body frame of your dog, I would use either a collar or a chain. Like I use a collar on my pom and small poodle and I use a chain on my bf doberman puppy when he got a little older like 4 months. And all you do is snap the leash you pull quickly and release. DON”T TUG, you gotta release otherwise u will hurt the dog. And say come or heel. And than follow by tug if the puppy doesn’t come. And than that way you will transition your puppy to use verbal commands.

yea that’s y there again I don’t believe positive reinforcement is always the best method for EVERY DOG! That’s like sayin every kid learns through listening. What you can try is to encourage her, but if she spooked carry her for a little while. And WATCH her body language, if the ears are bak and the tail is low she scared, and if the hair goes up on the back she’s on the defense and scared. But if she’s calm and jus lie there and looks at you like “IM NOt MOVIn. You probably have a stubborn dog

i dont have to watch this because my dog is so gentle she knows to listen and follow through

superc1231 June 1, 2010 at 6:06 pm

it would help alot if instead of having a properly trained dog they filmed a dog that doesnt know how to walk on a leash already, i need help my puppy will walk for a couple of steps and then out of no where she drops like a rock on the grass

Kellayyyoxo June 1, 2010 at 7:06 pm

This dog obviously knows how to walk on a leash already.

young52294 June 1, 2010 at 7:10 pm

cant always be so nice with the dog the do need disapline but not enough tto brake up just to know from right nd wrong

BrandonForeshew June 1, 2010 at 7:11 pm

lmao no regular person is going to stand outside with a toy and bag of treats for every walk. and the only reason he was so “focused” on you was because he knew you had treats.

comicalcupcake June 1, 2010 at 7:25 pm

@JanisLJoplin Are you using crate training? Dogs won’t relieve themselves in a properly sized crate. Put your dog in his crate for long enough that he will need to go, but not so long that he loses control. When you let him out, quickly put on the leash and take him outside. Be patient, he will take the opportunity to relieve himself!

oly355 June 1, 2010 at 8:20 pm

well, she doesn’t give the toy, so he may start being discouraged by doing something, if there is no point. just give him like, 10 sec, and take it away. do it again, give him the toy for 10 mins, and take it away. you can’t simply make the dog doing stuff like he’s a robot

My 6 week golden retriever thinks he is the boss of me cuz he is so cute ;(

he refuses to walk, everytime i put him on the leash, he lays down all 4s flat on the ground with his feets spread out. i would wait for him and he falls a sleep ;(

chunchi1000 June 1, 2010 at 9:31 pm

as soon as he/she starts to get distracted tug on the leash not hard just enough to get his mind set back on walking… remember u are the pack leader and as such you must give off good energy…

JanisLJoplin June 1, 2010 at 9:53 pm

My dog won’t walk or go to the bathroom on a leash. Have any suggestions?

punkchica321 June 1, 2010 at 10:53 pm

Maybe if you’re a perv.

SaoTiffaniie June 1, 2010 at 10:54 pm

thanks for the advice

famouslauren June 1, 2010 at 11:52 pm

Just keep trying. You might want to try him off leash…don’t put a leash on him. Take off running and see if your dog will follow you. If you have a few pieces of meat or treats he will definitely follow you.

SaoTiffaniie June 2, 2010 at 12:46 am

when i try to take my puppy out to walk he usually sits and wont move or he goes to the grass and wont walk
