I love my jack. Mine is not independent at all though. She loves her people and would never ever run away. My jack and I have a very close relationship and I just left for college in September and came back and visited home in late October and she wouldn’t even look at me. That’s how upset she was with me, she ignored me. But eventually she warmed back up to me, can’t wait to see how she acts when I come home for thanksgiving, she doesn’t appreciate me leaving her!

I have a 10 year old jack russell chi mix. He’s as hyper now at 10 like he was as a puppy. When he wants to play ball he will play with or without your help. LOL.. I have some clips on my page of him playing and talking. Just type in. Mr.Tiny or Christina hethcox. in the search engine.

Skydiver124 November 24, 2010 at 5:25 pm

@MsYearOfTheTiger1 Thanks for the info, but everything I learn on the interent says that learn slowly. And YES please, would you show me what its like with your dog.

MsYearOfTheTiger1 November 24, 2010 at 6:12 pm

@Skydiver124 Mine is, but I want him to be hyper again.
1. It doesn’t matter what kind, but which ever catches your interest. (Mine is broken-haired.)
2. You should get this breed! They’re are lovable!
3. They’re quick learners.
I’ll show you what it’s like with my dog, if you want. Do you?

Skydiver124 November 24, 2010 at 8:51 pm

Can you get Jack Russells that are quiet, loyal and easy to train dogs?? I want one, but I don’t want a hyperactive, won’t listen to me when I try to train them dog. And Also, What coated JRT should I get? Broken or Smooth? I’m 14, and Mum finally said I can have a dog, and I’m wondering if I should get this breed. Immediate response to both Questions please

johnboy32064 November 25, 2010 at 1:15 am

So, two leg lengths plus three different coats makes it possible to have six different looking dogs within the same breed (well, now I guess only 4 since the long legged-smooth coat is now officially called a PRT). I have a broken coated Jack, which is actually more common than that skanky white river rat-lookin-Toto-thing on this video. And my God they are a HANDFUL and BOSSY, PUSHY little bitches! They need strict training from the beginning. But I wouldn’t give this dog back for anything.

johnboy32064 November 25, 2010 at 1:18 am

Um, excuse me, but they DO NOT have minimal shedding. I have a broken coated Jack. This video is actually misleading, there are three kinds of coats–smooth, broken or rough coats. That’s why it took AKC and WKC so long to make a decision as to what the standard shoud be for inclusion. It’s now the Parson Russell that’s considered the standard for the top drawer kennel clubs (long legs, smooth coat).
