Subject: new and old kitten behavior Message: I picked up a new kitten from one of the shelters yesterday. I brought him home and briefly introduced him to my 3 month old kitten and then seperated them again. I have now let them spend time together and all the 3 month old does is growl and chase the baby around. They both attack each other but I cant tell if she is beating up the baby or if they are playing. Considering that she hisses and growls half the time it worries me. Is it harmfull? Any advise??? |

Subject: Bringing home a new cat Message: There is a lot of info online about how to introduce cats or kittens to one another. Some growling and hissing is completely normal at first, and most rolling around and wrestling is ok too! |

Subject: old and new kitten behavior Message: Many years ago I had 2 male cats that were related...IIRC the older one was born to the mother of the younger ones mother, which made them "uncle" and "nephew". They were only 8 weeks or so difference in age. They play fought together and loved each other like crazy. A certain amount of hissing and growling is okay. You just have to watch their body language and listen for cues that it's turning nasty. |
